Before you start Orthodontic treatment

It is our practice policy to insist that all patients that wish to start Orthodontic treatment with us have to have immaculate oral hygiene and spotlessly clean teeth. Your clinician will be able to advise you if you need any fillings prior to treatment start. You may have to see your General Dentist for additional x-rays to confirm there are no cavities (holes) in your teeth.

We also ask our patients to see their General Dentist every 3 months to assure no deterioration of oral hygiene and organise a professional cleaning of your teeth, if required. This is of particular relevance to our adult patients who may have experienced periodontal disease (gum disease) in the past and are more susceptible to future exacerbation of the disease.
